Janet L. Douglas

Janet Lynn Douglas (née Keith), age 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at home on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

Janet was born on October 8, 1961, in Portland, Maine to the late Richard Keith and Delores Ledford. Nicknamed "Munchkin," she graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1979 and attended University of Houston. She moved to Boston and worked in real estate. Janet married Paul Douglas on June 1, 1991. They had two sons, Jake and Nicholas (Nick).

Janet devoted her life to taking care of others. As a little girl she cooked for her siblings to help her working mom. She loved to ice skate, laugh, ride bikes, dance, and travel but hated summer camp and airplanes. Janet cultivated many lifelong friendships and was a very involved mother. She was known around town for hosting dinner parties and entertaining. Janet was always the person sending cards, bringing over food, and knowing what people needed. After moving to Gloucester, she was often seen riding up the Annisquam with her dog Chili on the bow.

Janet is survived by her two sons; older sister Laurel; brothers Richard and David; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her cat Mr. Chubbs. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul and beloved rescue Chili Dog.

Per Janet's request, no funeral services will be held. The family will hold a private celebration of life and spread her ashes this summer.
