Edwin Santos

Mr. Edwin Raymund Vergel de Dios "Ed" Santos passed away on March 1, 2025, in Tyler, Texas.

Born on December 11, 1966, in Quezon City, Philippines, he was the son of Nestor Angeles Santos and the late Corazon Naval Vergel de Dios. Ed graduated from Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati, before earning his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from Emilio Aguinaldo College in Manila in 1990. In 1991, he emigrated to Tyler, Texas, where he dedicated his career to serving the East Texas community as a Physical Therapist. He also contributed his expertise as Marketing Director for JBC Computers. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy Reserve (HM3) for eight years until 2004.

Ed was deeply involved in civic organizations that enriched his community. He was an active member of the Better Business Bureau, Leadership Tyler, Business After Hours, the YMCA, and the Rotary Club. His dedication to fostering connections led him to play a significant role in strengthening the Filipino-American community in East Texas.

A passionate traveler and writer, Ed documented his experiences through published articles and recently became a correspondent for *One Philippines* news magazine. Faith was central to his life-he was a devout Catholic who served as a lector and helped organize ACTS retreats.

Ed cherished time with family across the world and had a passion for genealogy. Known for his sharp memory and humor, he had an extraordinary ability to bring people together. His enthusiasm for global cuisine and his warm hospitality left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Corazon Naval Vergel de Dios Santos, and nephew John Vincent. He is survived by his father, Nestor Angeles Santos; brothers Kevin Peter and Neil Michael (Tricia); and nieces and nephews Michael, Marian, Therese, Catherine, Joseph, and Clare.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Saints Peter & Paul in Tyler, celebrated by the Very Reverend Robert H. Lanik. His remains were cremated, and inurnment will take place at Rose Hill Mausoleum in Tyler.
