Edwin M. Smith, 92, of Endicott, passed away on Dec 25th 2025. He was predeceased by his first wife, Irene, and second wife, Jean; brothers, Lance, and Ray; brother-in-law Cliff House.
Ed is survived by his sons, David (Mary) and Douglas (Audrey); 3 grandchildren, Adrienne (Rob) Young, Jen (Donnie) Ballard and Jason (Micah) Smith; 4 great grandchildren, Bria Young, Jack and Owen Ballard, Julian, Macklin and Ezra Smith; 3 sisters Amy (Dan) Lacey, Kathy House and Maureen (Dave) Riter; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was retired after 32 years with NY Telephone Co. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, life member of the German Club, Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome and was a past president of The Spirit of 76 Fife and Drum Corps.
After retiring he spent his summers at his camp on Black Lake fishing, golfing and communing with nature. He was active in the environmental aqua studies at Black Lake. He was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills (Go Bills!!)
Funeral Services for Ed will be held on Wednesday, December 31st at 11 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main Street Endicott. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the Allen Memorial Home from 10 am until Service time at 11 am. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Meals on Wheels of Western Broome or Mercy House of the Southern Tier in Ed's name.
