Effie Lou Everett, 94, of McLean, Texas died Monday, June 2, 2025 in Amarillo, Texas.
Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 5, 2025 in Robertson Funeral Directors Route 66 Chapel in McLean with Casey Carter and David Woods, officiating. Private burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean.
Viewing will be held Wednesday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends for visitation from 4:00 - 5:30 PM.
Arrangements are under the care of Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean.
Effie Lou Everett was born and raised in McLean, Effie Lou lived a life deeply rooted in tradition and rich with purpose. She was a homemaker, a rancher, a farmer, An active member of the Church of Christ, secretary for McLean Hillcrest Cemetery, a lifetime member of the VFW ladies auxiliary, an active member of the Daughters of American Revolution; titles she wore with quiet pride and unwavering strength. Alongside her husband, Dickie, she traveled during his military service, collecting stories and stamps in equal measure.
At home, she turned practical skills into art: quilts stitched with meaning, paintings that caught the light just right. She was a maker, through and through. Once her mind was set on something, nothing could stop her. That same fierce determination guided her through every season of life. She loved dancing with Dickie at the Country Club in McLean. Effie lived to see five generations of her family, including two great-great-grandsons. She carried the family name like a banner and loved her people fiercely. She will be missed, but more than that, she will be remembered.
Effie was preceded in death by her parents, Milton Fletcher Carpenter and Anna Maude Cash Carpenter; one brother, Jack Milton Carpenter; one son, James Milton Everett; and her husband, Richard L. "Dickie" Everett.
She is survived by one brother, Johnny Max Carpenter wife MaryAnn of McLean;
one daughter, Jenny Lee Everett Fry and husband Ernie "Gary" of McLean; two granddaughters, Christie Lee Townson and husband Wade Rannals of McLean and Jamie Lynn Locricchio husband Travis of Colorado Springs; three great-grandchildren, Chelsey Lynn Dudley and husband Nicholas of Georgetown, Trevor Allen Townson of Pampa, and Angelina Marcine Locricchio of Boston; two great-great-grandsons, Sawyer Allen Hofmann and Rowdy Jameson Dudley; Niece, Canda Carpenter Henry and husband Steve of Amarillo; nephew, Cash Carpenter of Houston; a great niece, Sam; and a great nephew, Garret.
