Egon Ruffing Obituary

Egon Anton Ruffing, age 92, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
Egon is survived by his children: Christine (Paul) Forsythe, Claudia (David) Ruffing Motta, Lisa (Dennis) Sonntag, Robert Ruffing, Richard Ruffing; brother, Horst P. Ruffing; and sisters: Beatta Ruffing, Ursula Ruffing; and loving pet, Heidi.
Egon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemarie Ruffing.
Egon was a devoted member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Cedar Lake.
He was the proud owner of Ruffing Construction which he established in 1956. Egon served as the past President of Crown Point's Kiwanis Club which he belonged to for 13 years.
He was very active growing up and qualified for the 1952 Olympics for Track and Field. He also was the 1985 National Champion in the 5K Masters Event in Indianapolis.
Egon will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 20 2025, at Holy Name Catholic Church, 11000 W. 133rd Ave., Cedar Lake, IN 46303. Interment to follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Cedar Lake, IN.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Egon's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
