Eileen Catherine Beisty

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Eileen Catherine Beisty, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 with her daughter by her side.

Born on January 4, 1943, in New York, New York, she was the beloved daughter of Pauline Gruber and Walter Woods.

On September 21, 1969, she married John P. Beisty, and together they began their lives. They started their married life in New York before eventually settling in Texas, which became their home. John preceded her in death in 2008.

She is survived by her son, John W. Beisty, and his wife Nicole(Nikki); her daughter, Patricia; and her cherished grandchildren, Ella Kay and John Luke Woods. To them and so many others, she was simply "Nana," a name spoken with love by all who knew her.

Eileen had a deep love for travel, especially cruises, and could often be found dozing peacefully on the balcony before the ship even left port. She enjoyed life's little luxuries a good glass of red wine, a cold flute of champagne, a big bowl of pasta, and time spent with those she loved most.

She was also known for her wonderful hospitality. Her famous chef salad was always a highly requested favorite at family gatherings, and in her earlier years, she delighted the entire neighborhood with her homemade chocolate-covered pretzels. These simple, sweet traditions became treasured memories for all who were lucky enough to share in them.

A loyal and passionate Houston Astros fan, she never wanted to miss a game on TV. She cheered with heart and wore her Astros gear with pride win or lose.

Eileen brought love, joy, warmth, and kindness into every life she touched. Her infectious smile, strength, humor, and gentle heart will be remembered always.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Schmidt Funeral Home 10A.M., where we will gather to celebrate her remarkable life and legacy.

In honor of Eileen's vibrant spirit, the family warmly invites guests to wear red, her favorite color, or their favorite Astros gear to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in her memory to Houston Hospice or The Houston Astros Foundation.
