Passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023.
Eileen was born in Wilmington to the late Francis and Ethel (Emory) Carroll. She was a proud 1966 graduate of De La Warr High School. On May 2nd, 1970, Eileen married Joseph Blyskal Jr. Together they shared 53 years of marriage raising their three daughters.
Eileen was a dedicated employee of the New Castle Senior Center for over 27 years. She worked in many capacities for the center retiring as Assistant Director. She also was an active member of the New Castle Lions Club. She served in several leadership positions including King Lion. Eileen was also active in the Girl Scouts of America and was a troop leader while her girls were members.
When Eileen wasn't working or volunteering, she loved the simpler things in life, like dancing, singing, and listening to music. She enjoyed camping with family and friends hoping to catch a glimpse of her favorite animal, the owl. Eileen was also an accomplished crocheter and seamstress, sewing most of her daughters clothing throughout their childhood and teenage years.
In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her brothers, Norm, Gary, and Gerald.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Joseph; her daughters, Cindy Stanavich, Cheryl Blyskal-Barlow, and Tammy Blyskal; and her three grandchildren, Joseph, Ryan, and Emily. Eileen is also survived by her two sisters, Nancy Johnson and Pat Washinowski.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service for Eileen at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 101 W 6th St., New Castle, DE on Thursday, Oct 5th. Public gathering will take place from 2pm-3pm with the service at 3pm.
