Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hood Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 20, 2026.
Eileen Ida Krumrey was born on June 28, 1947, in
Manitowoc, Wisconsin, to Art and Clara (Johansen) Kerscher.
She was baptized into the Christian faith at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc on August
3, 1947. She was confirmed in the faith at First German on March 26, 1961, and graduated from Manitowoc
Lutheran High School in 1965.
She married Walter Krumrey on April 8, 1967, and they were blessed with a daughter, Ellen Ann, who died at
birth in 1967, and a son Richard, born in October 1968.
Mom loved music and played the church organ at Bethany Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. She also was the
bookkeeper for Ham-Ten Service Station in Manitowoc (now Kwik Trip). When Wally and son Rick ("Radar")
volunteered for Silver Creek Fire & Rescue, she joined Silver Creek Ladies Auxiliary.
Eileen and Wally enjoyed camping at Devil's River until they moved to Tennessee in 1998, settling in Crossville
in 1999. She volunteered for Cumberland County Salvation Army and played with the Crossville Dulcimers. She
played organ, served as choir accompanist, and bell choir director for several years at Shepherd of the Hills
Lutheran Church in Crossville. For the last 18 years she served as the lead musician and choir accompanist at
Ascension of Christ Lutheran Church in Crossville. She was a faithful, committed member of Ascension of
Christ and served for many years as the coordinator of Ascension's "Community Assistance," giving special
support to the Avalon Center, the Bread of Life Rescue Mission, and leading the "Mitten Tree" effort that
benefited students at Crab Orchard Elementary School. She also regularly volunteered to read to second
graders at Martin Elementary School.
Mom always enjoyed outside yard work at the homes she and dad lived in, both in Manitowoc and in
Crossville. She was a dear friend to so many people – loyal, understanding, patient and kind. Anyone who
knew her saw those wonderful qualities in her.
Eileen is survived by her son Rick and daughter-in-law Katie Krumrey; granddaughter Sarah Jo Robbins and
husband Scott Robbins; two great-grandchildren Joseph and Amara; her sister Abigail and husband Ed
Cosner; a niece and two nephews: Melissa, Andrew, Nick, and their families; and good friend/maintenance
man Earl Mashburn.
Eileen was preceded in death by her daughter, Ellen, husband Walter, her parents, and her in-laws.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 8, at Ascension of Christ Lutheran Church in Crossville from 9:30 a.m. to
10:45 a.m. A Celebration of Life begins at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow. The committal of cremated remains
is yet to be determined.
