Eileen Kelley McDowell

Eileen Kelley McDowell, age 94, of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, passed away at her home Monday, May 12, 2025. She was the daughter of the late George and Doll Capps Kelly.
A native of Henderson County, North Carolina, she was a home maker and gardener. She retired from Bevard College where she made delicious baked goods for the staff and students.
Eileen enjoyed growing vegetables with her husband and sharing the fruits of their labor with her family and friends. She always enjoyed cooking for all who would stop by to visit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Preston McDowell.
She is survived by two sons, Rodger E. McDowell and his wife Mary Catherine of Frostproof, Florida, and Richard P. McDowell and his wife Sally Lail of Granite Falls, North Carolina; and three daughters, Debra Prince and her husband Daniel of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, Karen Crawford and her husband Linwood of Shelby, North Carolina, and Ellen Gordon, of Horse Shoe, North Carolina; three sisters, Charlotte Greer, Jenny Bryson, and China Patterson, all of Henderson County; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren, who always put a smile on her face.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville with Chaplain Joshua McDowell (United States Navy) officiating.

Eileen will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
