Eileen G. McEnery of Brewster, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on Wednesday July 27, 2022, at the age of 90.
Eileen was born October 10, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Thomas and Eileen (Murphy) McGann. She graduated from James Madison High School in January 1950 and went to Brooklyn College. Eileen joined the United States Marine Corp. and served honorably from 1951 to 1953. Eileen then met the love of her life, Michael P. McEnery, at Rockaway Beach in NY in 1954 and they were married June 25, 1955. The two loved family, music, dancing and shared a passion for both faith and politics and in fact, they were the founding members of the Southeast Independent Taxpayers Organization. Eileen was the President of the Putnam County Women's Republican Association. She loved her community and her church. She was a Eucharistic Minister for St. Lawrence O'Toole for almost twenty years.
Service to the family and community dominated Eileen's life as she had four daughters and went on to become a Registered Nurse for over sixteen years. She enjoyed working privately and with the students at B.O.C.E.S Eileen later became a realtor/broker for Chris Markatos Associates in Mahopac and finally an antique dealer. Eileen had many hobbies including garden, framing, matting, antique hunting and loved to find a bargain! In the end, Eileen cherished her family, friends, laughter, Irish music, and a good meal. Eileen will be missed for her words of advice, her resiliency, and her overall zest for life.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband Michael Nov. 24, 1997. She is survived by her daughters Eileen Joyce (James Joyce) of Brewster, NY, Jennifer McEnery of Brewster, NY, Marguerite Christie (Steve Christie) of Watertown, CT, ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren and her former son in law and dear friend Peter Priolo. She was also predeceased by her daughter Lisbeth Priolo, granddaughter Erin O'Toole and son in law Christopher O'Toole and her sister Nancy McGann Wolfe.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday August 3, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster, NY followed by the interment in St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Brewster. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday August 2, 2022, at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
