Eileen O’Bryan

HERKIMER – Eileen E. O'Bryan, age 101, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023, at Valley Health Service, Inc. She was born on January 25, 1922, in Herkimer, a daughter of the late George and Reba (Harter) Rivers. A lifelong Herkimer resident, she graduated from Herkimer High School.
Eileen was a devout Catholic and in her younger years was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Francis deSales Church.
She led an active life, enjoying her time with family and constantly challenging her mind and talents with crafts. She enrolled in many courses including needle point, ceramics, and upholstery classes. She will be fondly remembered for her super cooking and baking skills, especially her pumpkin rolls, her love of life and quick wit.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen O'Bryan and his wife Karen of Damariscotta, Maine, Timothy O'Bryan and his companion Mary of Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, two daughters, Carol Babcock and her husband James, Patricia Coombs; a sister, Grace Jones and her husband Raymond all of Herkimer, many grand and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Donald Earl "Mike" and Leo Rivers, Ruth French, Pauline Braren and Elsie Heyer, grandchildren, Michael Babcock, Coleen Babcock, C.J. Cammarata, Stephen O'Bryan, Jr. and son-in-law, Raymond Coombs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, 10:00am at St. Francis deSales RC Church with the Reverend Thomas Babluch, pastor. Calling hours and Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
