Eileen Edith Tabares (née Ashton), age 97, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, in Palos Verdes Estates, California. Born on September 16, 1928, in Inglewood, California, Eileen lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and service to others. A graduate of Inglewood High School, Eileen remained close to her Southern California roots throughout her life. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Palos Verdes and held a deep belief in God that guided her actions and relationships. Her faith was not only a personal compass but also a source of strength and comfort to those around her. Eileen shared a loving 49 year marriage with her husband, Joseph Tabares. Together they built a family grounded in love and mutual respect. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Wendy Klarik, son, Kirk Jensen and daughter-in-law, Pam Jensen. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Krista Thorrington, Drew Jensen, and Jordan Klarik as well as six great grandchildren. Throughout her life, Eileen was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for those she loved. She never forgot a birthday and delighted in celebrating the holidays-especially Christmas-which she approached with joy and enthusiasm year after year. Eileen found fulfillment not only within her family circle but also through community involvement. She was an active member of the Psi Delta Sigma Chapter of Momentum, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting disability services. She was also involved in Meals on Wheels, delivering food to local residents, as well as volunteering at several South Bay thrift shops. She was continuously committed to helping others. In quieter moments, Eileen enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles-particularly The People Puzzle-which kept her mind sharp and brought her great satisfaction. She was also an avid bowler throughout most of her life; she enjoyed the camaraderie offered through her bowling leagues. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Henry Ashton, as well as her brother Charles Ashton. Eileen's life was one of grace, compassion, and enduring faith. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 28, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Palos Verdes, 28 Moccasin Lane, Rolling Hills Estates, California. Memorial service begins at 11:00 followed by a Celebration of Eileen's Life. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The First Baptist Churh of Palos Verdes (firstbaptistpv.com).
