Eileen A. Walsh passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband Gerard. She is survived by her son Kevin and his wife Jennifer. She was the proud grandmother of Kevin Jr., Stephen and Dylan Walsh. She was the devoted sister of Mae Kenny and her late husband Jack and sister-in-law of Valerie and John Walsh and Lisa and William Walsh. She was the adored aunt of 12 nieces and nephews: Eileen Kenny, Brian Kenny (Katie), John Kenny (Mary Beth Hogan), Kathleen Jaeger (Robert), Sheila Kenny (Jon Simmons), John Walsh (Blanca), Jill Head (Mike), Michael Walsh (Ann Marie ), Billy Walsh (deceased), Brian Walsh (Lauren), Jillian Walsh and Morgan Walsh.
She is also survived by 23 great nieces and nephews. Eileen also had many longtime special friends and cousins who will miss her dearly.
Eileen was born in 1933 to Helen (Collum) and Dan McCormick, both Irish immigrants. She was raised in the Bronx and graduated from Aquinas High School. After high school she went to work at the New York Telephone Company. She met her husband Gerard at Rockaway Beach (The Leitrim House) and they were married in 1957. They made their home in Tenafly and raised their son Kevin there. Eileen was an early "soccer mom" and enjoyed all of Kevin's various athletic pursuits. She cherished many special family times in Rockaway and Montauk and entertaining at her home in Tenafly. She loved going fishing with Gerard and Kevin. In later years she enjoyed working at Valley Bank in Tenafly and going out with her "girls" on Friday nights.
Most of all, Eileen enjoyed being with her large extended family and many special friends. She loved every social gathering and never missed a party. Her laughter always made others smile. She was a thoughtful and generous gift giver. She was famous for sending greeting cards for all occasions. If you knew her, you were sure to be remembered on your birthday or any other special day. Her warm spirit and loving presence will be greatly missed.
