Eileen T. Ward of Carteret passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026 at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison.
Eileen was blessed with ninety and a half years of life and was raised in
Bayonne, NJ by her loving parents Andrew and Loretta Lanskey. She was the oldest of her siblings with two brothers, who predeceased, her Lawrence and Aurthur Lanskey and three sisters, Evelyn and Beverly, both deceased, and Dianne.
She studied at St. Andrews Catholic School during her early years but left school to support her family through difficult times. She worked for Madenform and eventually Western Electric where she was crowned Miss Western Electric. She met the love of her life in 1953, Daniel J Ward, and married on February 16, 1957, after Dan completed his service in the United States Army. Together they purchased a home in Carteret, and she became a full-time housewife and loving mother to Daniel (Debbie), James, Carol (Mike Maffia), and Kevin Ward. She was grandmother (Nana) to Daniel (Jen), Michael (Francheska), Karilyn (Bryan), Jessica (Rob), Kevin, Shannon (Marc)), James, Michael and Lauren; and Great-Grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren Sophia Elysse, Elianna Nicole, William Michael, Noemi, Sadie Noelle, and Davie-Jace Ward; Julia, Molly, Skylar, and Bobby Pansini; Lilah and Clara Whittaker. She also had many nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors.
Eileen enjoyed frequent visits with family in Bayonne, Roselle and Watchung. She was always looking forward to the next family event, especially the recent births of great-grandchildren and was hoping to attend an upcoming wedding and the birth of two more great-grandchildren. She endured dialysis three times a week for the past two-and-a-half years to be able to do this. She made new friends and loved the staff that diligently cared for her at DaVita Dialysis in Woodbridge.
Eileen attended Divine Mercy Parish in Carteret. She had a selfless personality; she worried over, prayed for and asked about all of her family constantly. She will be greatly missed by all of her family. Eileen truly was a great Mom, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend to all. She led a well-lived and fruitful life. Her beauty and elegance was reflected not only in her appearance but in all areas of her life.
Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Monday, February 2, 2026 from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Divine Mercy Parish - Holy Family R.C. Church in Carteret. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
