Eileen P. White

Eileen White, 69, passed away in Staten Island University North hospital on Feb 2,

2026. She was born in Brooklyn, New York. When she was one her parents moved to

Staten Island so, as her father said ''she could feel the grass under her feet'' as she

grew up. She attended Our Lady Star of the Sea school as well as Tottenville High School. It was there she met friends Diana, Cindy, and Jill who would remain true friends throughout her life.

Early in life she showed a talent for art and was a skilled painter. She enjoyed learning

about of a variety of things and eventually earned a master's degree in English literature from the College of Staten Island. Her great empathy for others led her to a career in helping those with disabilities. She herself struggled with mental illness which made her a staunch advocate for those facing the same challenges. She possessed great common sense.

She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic church for many years and a member of

the choir. She loved singing and being part of such a wonderful parish family. She

traveled with the choir to Europe to perform there and found great joy in her singing.

She also wrote poetry, which was an outlet for any tribulations she faced in life. She

always showed great resilience despite her challenges and tried to see the best in all

those she encountered. She traveled to Ireland twice and was very proud of her Irish

heritage.

She is predeceased by her parents, Bob and Betty. She is survived by her loving

sisters, Mary and Kathy, her beloved nephews Michael (fiance Katie) and Brian. Her Godmother Aunt Ann and her family, dear friend Suzette, as well as cousins Jeanne, Donna, and Margie and their families. An

extended family in Ireland mourns her loss and she will missed by many friends. She lived at St. Joseph's supported housing for many years and the staff there was a tremendous help to her. She

was cared for recently by the loving staff at Carmel Richmond Nursing facility. ''May the

road rise to meet you, the wind be at your back, and until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand. ''

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:45 AM on Friday at Our Lady Star of the Sea located at 5411 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
