Maria DelVecchio, a longtime resident of East Boston, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old.
Born in Nusco, Avellino, Italy, on May 30, 1936, Maria came to the United States and built a life centered on family, faith, and love. She was the beloved wife of the late Beniamino DelVecchio, with whom she shared many cherished years of marriage.
She was the devoted mother of Michelle Picciotto and her husband Maurizio, Anthony DelVecchio and his wife Sheila, and Amato "Pat" DelVecchio and his wife Kim.
Maria was the dear sister of Rosa Natale, Celeste DiSunno, Umberto DiSunno, Attiolio DiSunno, and the late Elio DiSunno.
She was the adored grandmother of Benjamin, Melissa, Anthony, Christopher, Maria, Alex, and Katie.
Maria will be remembered most for her deep devotion to her family and the joy she found in being surrounded by them. Her love, warmth, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, East Boston followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Brooks Street, East Boston. Maria will be entombed beside her beloved husband at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, MA. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Maria, please visit our floral store.
