EJ Mascaro

EJ Mascaro, of Ladson SC, Firefighter for the City of North Charleston, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 19, 2017. He was 34. The son of David L. Mascaro Jr. and Glenda Artman Mascaro, he was born January 7, 1983 in Erie, PA. EJ was a 2002 graduate of McDowell High School, Erie, PA. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving two and a half tours in Iraq, ultimately earning a Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Presidential Citation. EJ was a true Patriot. A career firefighter, EJ began his fire service at Lake Shore and West Lake Fire Departments in Erie, PA. After moving to Charleston, EJ became a member of the Charleston Fire Department before joining the North Charleston Fire Department in 2015. He was a member of the SC Task Force 1, a Fire Instructor at the SC Fire Academy and was an Instructor at FDIC. EJ also was an Instructor for On Scene Training Associates, traveling the country teaching and mentoring firefighters. EJ was an active member of the Seacoast Church in Mt. Pleasant. EJ's greatest gift was his friendship and he will be remembered for his big smile, love of PBR and his nickname "the Goat". EJ's life was a life of service filled with brotherhood, laughter and adventure. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Richard Mascaro and his wife Amber of Pittsburgh, PA, a sister Sarah Mascaro, aunt and uncle Sandy and Terry Mascaro, uncle Ric Mascaro, and close family friend, Stephanie Brown, all of Erie, PA. All are invited to attend a Celebration of EJ's Life on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 2:30PM at the Seacoast Church, 750 Long Point Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC.
