Wharton Funeral Home - WhartonElaine Broll, 77, of Boling, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in a Houston hospital following a sudden illness. Elaine was born in Bay City, TX, on June 11, 1948, to the late Ben and Rosie Smith Salas.Elaine was raised in the Boling/Pledger area and graduated from Boling High School. She married William S. Broll on July 5, 1969, in Wharton. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2007. She attended beauty school and owned her own hair salon for several years. She loved visiting with her clients every day, and having long lasting friendships with so many of them. Elaine was known as quite the character. To know her was to love her. Her goofy spirit, loving heart, and effortless sense of humor brought love and laughter to everyone she met. She loved doing crafts, tending to her plants, gardening and reading. She is now reunited with her beloved dogs, Lacey and Boudreux, who were her constant companions and her greatest comfort. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world. When she was able, she was always at all her grandchildren’s events. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary Prochaska, brothers, Ray Salas, Paul Salas, Armand Salas, Carl Salas, and Mike Salas.
Elaine is survived by her daughters Monica Mears and husband, Denny of Boling and Jennifer Walker and husband, Hank of Burleson, sister, Sandra Stavinoha, brother, Wayne Salas, her grandchildren, Ryan Morin and Karissa, Justin Broll and wife, Jessica, Brady Mears and Kaitlyn, Kryste Vitera and fiancé Jeff, Kamryn Mears, Autume Walker and Joseph Walker, her great grandchildren, Bailey Morin, Amari, Charli Broll, Rylee Broll, Tate Broll and one on the way.
The family would like to thank SPJST Senior Living, the El Campo EMS and the Memorial Hermann Staff and Physicians at the Medical Center. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday January 17th at the Boling Fire Station from 2-5 pm.
