After a long battle with cancer, Elaine Marie (Eck) Dunne passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 15, 2025, in Woodstock, IL. She was born on December 12, 1942, in Williamsport, PA.

After graduating from St. Mary Catholic School in June of 1960 in Williamsport, Elaine dedicated herself to her career, working as a secretary for the Little League World Series, where she fostered her love for baseball. She later found fulfillment at Taylor Made Golf before retiring from CCI Composite. In retirement, Elaine devoted her time to giving back, supporting Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry, a testament to her generous and caring nature.

Elaine met her late husband, John F. Dunne, at a function at the Harmonia Hall at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Their 50 years of marriage were filled with laughter, love, and countless family gatherings. She cherished every moment spent with family, whether it was playing games, sharing delicious food, or enjoying her magnificent holiday decorations-especially her cherished snowman collection during Christmas.

Known affectionately as "honey" by her siblings, Elaine had a unique ability to bring people together. Her strong spirit inspired many, and her home was always a welcoming place filled with warmth, laughter, and an immaculate home and lawn that reflected her care for detail. She had a love for gardening and could often be found engrossed in a good book, cheering on her favorite contestants on Survivor, or crafting – especially her beautiful floral arrangements.

Elaine will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her children: Michelle (Wagn) Sondergaard, Patrick (Erin) Dunne, Jennifer (Chris) Martin, and Sharon Hess (David); her grandchildren: Jeremy Dunne, Hunter Martin, Hannah Martin, Meghan Kalemba, Jessica Hess, Garrett Dunne, and Justin Hess; and a great grandson: Jayce.

She was preceded in death by her husband: John F. Dunne; her parents: Charles H. and Agnes M. (Albert) Eck; her brothers: Carl, Thomas, John and David Eck; and her sisters: Rita Lane, Josephine Letscher, Marjorie Kriner, and Rosemary Eck.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church in McHenry, IL from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in McHenry, IL.
