Elaine Kay Duvall, age 65, of Mt. Vernon, SD died Monday, December 16, 2024 at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, December 27, 2024 at the Will Funeral Chapel.
Elaine Kay (Kroupa) Duvall, daughter of Ralph and Delores (Schatz) Kroupa, was born October 27, 1959 in Mitchell, SD. She grew up on the family farm east of Mt. Vernon, SD. Elaine attended school in Mt. Vernon, graduating from Mt. Vernon High School in 1978. She then attended school in Sioux Falls, SD where she received her Degree in Graphic Design.
Elaine was united in marriage with Bruce Shay on April 24, 1982 in Mitchell, SD. The couple made their home in Mitchell. She was later united in marriage with Jay Duvall on June 26, 1998 in Rapid City, SD. The couple lived in Mitchell for a short time before making their home in Mt. Vernon, SD.
Elaine enjoyed traveling (especially to the Caribbean), she was also a huge advocate for animal rescue.
Grateful for having share her life are her husband, Jay Duvall, Mt. Vernon, SD; her children, Teresa Shay, Mitchell, SD, Tyler Shay, Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Tanner Frank and Jazzmine Shay; four great grandchildren, Archer, Violet, Asher, and Hudson; a brother, Dale Kroupa, Mt. Vernon, SD and her sister, Vickie (Dennis) Hiemstra, Mitchell, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
