Elaine Edgington

Elaine Edgington, age 85, of Amanda, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Pickering House in Lancaster. She was born March 21, 1940, in Brownsville, OH to the late Thomas and Leah (Wiseman) Smart. She was a graduate of Glenford High School, class of 1958. She worked for Diamond Electronics for 37 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Amanda Methodist Church. She loved bowling, bingo, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Tammy (Willie) Bigham, and Polly Edgington, both of Amanda, and Bill "Edge" (Jessica) Edgington, of Thornville; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother, Roy W. (Sharon) Smart, of Zanesville; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Joyce Silcott, of Lancaster; sisters-in-law, Margaret Spires, Marilyn Freese, and Ferlinda Powers. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Garold "Doc" Edgington; sister, Shirley Wilson; brothers, Paul and David Powers, and Dale Smart.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda, with Pastor Jeff Richards officiating. Interment will follow at Amanda Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
