Elaine Bridgeman Gibson, 77, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. She was born on January 4, 1947, to the late Jonie and Vera Bridgeman.
Elaine spent her entire life in Spartanburg, the community that she loved. She was a graduate of Dorman High School, Class of 1965, and Cecil's Business College. Elaine embarked on her professional career with Piedmont Natural Gas where she worked for over 20 years. She then took a position with Vic Bailey Ford Lincoln as Executive Assistant where she retired after 21 years of service.
Elaine was a devoted mother to Kelly Phipps (Kevin Holt) and Brooke Fowler (Joe) and a Nana who adored her three grandchildren: Miles Phipps, Gibson Fowler, and Georgia Fowler. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her, and she was so deeply proud of each of them.
She is also survived by her sister Libby Conkrite, nephew Abe Green, niece Nikki Munn (Ezzie), and their daughter, Mazzie. Elaine was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Kay, and brother-in-law, Donald Kay.
Elaine found happiness in spending time at the beach, socializing with her friends, and cheering for her beloved Clemson Tigers. She was known for her kindness, her loyalty, her strong work ethic, her fun and spirited personality, and her wicked sense of humor. Elaine was an active volunteer with the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization and also a member of the Miss Spartanburg Pageant Committee. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Spartanburg.
Elaine’s faith was an important part of her life, and she carried a deep love for God that guided her through both joys and challenges. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 23 at J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Rd, Roebuck, SC. The family will receive friends following the service.
