Elaine Marie (Smith) Larson passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2024.
Elaine was born on November 1, 1938, in Wawarsing, NY. She was the middle child of nine born to the late Alfred and Marion (Palmer) Smith, and the fifth of eight “Smith sisters”.
Elaine graduated from Ellenville High School in 1956 and worked for many years at Home National Bank and then Ellenville National Bank until she retired in 2003. After retiring, Elaine volunteered her time and home to providing ESL lessons to non-English speakers.
Elaine enjoyed ballroom dancing, chatting on the phone, going out to eat, shopping, and music. More than anything, Elaine treasured her big family and greatly admired her mother, Marion Smith (died 1987). Elaine loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she cherished the network of love and friendship provided by her eight siblings, many nieces and nephews, and the friends she held close for years, if not decades.
Elaine is survived by her children Kristy, Lori, and Gary Larson; grandchildren Amanda (Michael) Cassidy, Riley Gandulla, Ethan Barnes, and Keegan Gandulla; great grandchildren Mason Cassidy and Wyatt Cassidy; sisters Rita (Vern) Darmstadter and Kathleen (Peter) Trow and her only brother Lawrence Smith. Elaine was predeceased by her sisters Marian (Philip) Terwilliger, Lorraine (Harold) Horstman, Lenore (Howard) Hesse, Patricia (Warren) Smith, and Joyce (Richard) Smith.
