Elaine Marie Lorenz

Elaine Marie Lorenz, 88, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 12, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York to Philip and Ellen McManus. She was raised in Floral Park, NY and attended Sewanhaka High School, where she met Richard Lorenz, the love of her life and husband of 51 years. Together they raised their family in North Babylon, NY where she was a den mother for the Boy Scouts of America, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of the United Methodist Church in Babylon, NY.

Elaine had a long and successful career as an Account Executive for AT&T, selling phone systems to businesses on Long Island and in New York City. She loved her work and remembered fondly the time that she spent teaching and supporting the professional growth of young salespeople.

Upon retirement she lived in Saint Petersburg Beach, Florida. She loved entertaining family and friends, swimming, walking on the beach, collecting shells and watching beautiful sunsets.

Elaine moved to Charlotte, NC in 2022 to be closer to her family. She resided at Waltonwood Cotswold where she enjoyed sharing meals and activities with friends.

Elaine was a devoted wife, a cherished mother, and a proud grandmother. She was a woman defined by her fierce love for her family and for her kindness, warmth and resilience. In addition to her family life, she had a passion for quilting, sewing, knitting and reading, which brought her immense happiness. She lived a full life, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving children William (Carol) Lorenz and Diane (Andrew) Baldwin, her grandchildren William (Heather) Lorenz, Katherine Lorenz, Brittany (George) Pearson, Brandon Lorenz, Cassidy (Michael) Carbone and Elizabeth (William) Schauer, great-grandchild Madeleine Schauer and her sister, Ann Lallos. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lorenz, son Brian Lorenz, grandchildren Jennifer Lorenz and Andrew Baldwin and her brother, Philip McManus.

A memorial service will be held on September 27, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Christ Church Charlotte, located at 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC. Elaine will be laid to rest on October 25, 2025 at 12:00 pm at St. Peter's Church in the Great Valley, located at 2475 St. Peter's Road in Malvern, PA.
