Evelyn Martin

Evelyn O'Martin passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on October 13, 2025 in Charlotte, NC.
Evelyn was born and raised in Ireland. As a young adult, she sailed to New York with her sisters where she became a US citizen and met her future husband, Bill. She was a vivacious redhead who captured his heart and was always up for the craic. Their honeymoon was a cross country trip to California, where they settled and raised four children.
Evelyn was a devout Catholic, known for "storming heaven" in prayer for all of her family and friends. She also lived a life in service, working directly with Mother Teresa and her Missionaries of Charity in San Francisco by collecting and delivering food donated by local bakeries.
Her native Ireland became a second home for the family. Her children spent many summers with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins enjoying their Irish heritage. Because of Evelyn, their Irish roots will always be treasured in their hearts.
Evelyn was an avid tennis player, loved music, and appreciated nature and animals. She loved to travel, especially to pilgrimage sites around the world.
Evelyn was a wonderful mother, known for her homemade spaghetti, signature macaroni and cheese, and Irish soda bread, to name a few. She adored her four grandchildren and was a constant loving presence in their lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband this past Spring. Married for decades, they were not apart very long. They will both be missed by the family and the wide circle of friends who held them dear.
She is survived by her children, Maeve, Margaret, Michelle, and William IV; and four grandchildren.
