Cavallin Funeral Home - Two HarborsElaine Mattson, 70, Two Harbors, died Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Aspirus-St. Luke’s Hospital.
Elaine was born October 8, 1954 to William and Joan (McGregor) Hungerford in Duluth and was a life-long resident of Two Harbors. After graduating from high school in 1973, she earned an Associates degree from Fond-Du-Lac Community College and Duluth Community College. Early in her working life she worked as caregiver for several years, before working for many years as a rural mail carrier.
Elaine was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
As a young lady she enjoyed horseback riding, and later enjoyed music, and time with her grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Robert Hungerford.
She is survived by her children, Jason Hungerford, Ferris (Carley) Hungerford, and Veronica Mattson (Matt Oberg); grandchildren, Brent (Morgan), Ariana, Catherine, and Danielle, Haley and Denny; great-grandchildren, Laken, Baylor and Brecken; a sister Yvonne (Bert) Highland; a brother, James (Linda) Hungerford; nieces, nephews, and others.
A Graveside service will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors.
