The love of my life, Elaine Anderson Mosteller, went to be with the Lord today, November 20, 2025, at 1am. She was a month shy of her 80th birthday. She has been in my life for over 62 years and we've been married for over 60. We were blessed with two children, Carissa and Douglas, and two wonderful in-laws, Brian Burns and Tonia Bowman Mosteller. They gave us three grandchildren, Zachary Mosteller and Sean and Ashleigh Burns. Elaine loved her family and we are blessed to have been an active part of their lives.
I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support, especially this past year. With the help of Carolina Caring we were able to grant Elaine her desire to end life in her home. Sitting by her bed, family and friends shared our memories and prepared each other for today. Oh how she will be missed, but I am at peace knowing she is no longer suffering from the effects of pernicious anemia and covid.
Elaine will be cremated and her wish was to have a Celebation of life in her hometown of Morganton. We will plan on having it after the holidays. Place and date to follow.
We wrote a poem together that pretty well sums up our life. I'll share it with you.
REMEMBERING
The year was 1963 and we were young and carefree.
We met by chance, but it started a long romance.
It didn't take long for two to become three.
We were still young, but no longer carefree.
When three became four our love and commitment grew even more.
The road has sometime been bumpy and left us with some scars,
bur we faced it all together and are thankful for where we are.
Now our sunset years are here as our youth has come and gone,
but no matter what the future the journey has made us strong.
Now we face the end together
remembering the happiness we've known.
In memory of Elaine, contributions can be made to Carolina Caring Hospice, 2240 Remount Rd Gastonia, NC 28054. https://www.carolinacaring.org/give/ They are wonderful dedicated people.
Love to all.
