Elbert Leslie Huff, age 80, passed away on September 30, 2023, at his residence in Morton, MS. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Polkville United Pentecostal Church in Polkville, MS. Service will take place at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Polkville United Pentecostal Cemetery in Polkville, MS. Bro. Jeremy Price, Bro. Ethan Wade, Bro. Barron Price and Ronnie Traxler to officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Mr. Huff was born on September 21, 1943 in Smith County, MS to Pascal West Huff and Mildred Hudson. He a lifelong resident of Morton and Polkville, MS. Mr. Huff was a member of Polkville United Pentecostal Church. He Served as a Police Officer with the Forest Police Department, then later served as Assistant Chief with Morton PD. Mr. Huff also served as a Deputy with the Smith County Sheriff Department and then served as Police Chief with the Polkville Police Department. He enjoyed tomato farming in his retirement years.
Mr. Huff was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Huff; his parents Pascal and Mildred Huff; his four brothers, Johnny Ray, Elzy, Jerry and Jimmy Huff; his three sisters, Nellie Ray McDonald, Dorothy Beatty and Fleeta Phillips. He is survived by his wife Rosie Huff of Polkville, MS; his daughter, Tammy Munn (Pete) of Polkville, MS; his son, Tim Huff (Tammy) of Linden, TN; his two step daughters, Anna Marie Phillips (Joseph) of Morton, MS and Rebecca Busby of Polkville, MS; his two step sons, David Atkison of Morton, MS and Samuel Atkison of Morton, MS; his sister Annette Tadlock of Morton, MS; four grandchildren, Amber Munn, Tanner Munn (Jessica), Katie Barton (Sean) and Jack Huff; two great grandchildren, Janson Abel and Abby Kate Munn and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Traxler, Scott Webber, Will Burnside, Quince Porter, Josh Hawkins, Daniel Beatty, Douglass Parkman and Corey Huff.
