Mavis J. Woods, born on September 10, 1932, in Scott County, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, in Forest, Mississippi. Throughout her life, Mavis was known for her unwavering dedication to her community and her profession as a nurse, a role in which she served with compassion and commitment.

A proud graduate of Harperville High School, Mavis further pursued her passion for healthcare by obtaining her nursing degree from the University Medical Center. Her contributions to the nursing field have left an indelible mark on many lives throughout the years. Mavis was not only a healthcare provider but also a cherished member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Harperville Baptist Church, where she served her community with grace.

Mavis is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Abner Woods. She is survived by her devoted children, Briget Jeffcoats, Aishia Keady, and Randy Woods. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, whom she adored: Misty Robinson, Jesse Woods, Michael Jeffcoats, Garon Barnes, Krisler Barnes, Jason Hawkins, Brooklyn Barnes, Jacob Hawkins, Trenton Barnes, and several great-grandchildren.

In honor of Mavis's life and remarkable contributions, a visitation will be held on January 28, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Wolf Funeral Services, located at 3054 Hwy 80 West, Morton, MS 39117. The family invites all who wish to pay their respects to join them in celebrating the life of a truly inspiring woman. Mavis J. Woods will be missed dearly, but her spirit and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
