Rev. Elbert Benjamin Hunley

Reverend Elbert B. Hunley, of Corryton, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born in Speedwell, Tennessee, and lived a life devoted to faith, family, and hard work.

Elbert shared 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Margie Hunley, who preceded him in death in 2020. Their love and devotion to one another was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Elbert was a man who loved the outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying God's creation, he found peace and joy surrounded by nature. He dedicated 41 years of his working life to White Lily Flour Company.

Elbert was a member of Community Baptist church and also served as pastor of Raccoon Valley Baptist Church in Maynardville, Tennessee.

He was a member of the Charles H. McKinney Lodge #433 F. & A.M. for 53 years and a member of the Knoxville Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his children, Sherry Parsley (Michael) and Lynn Hunley (Amy); grandchildren, Nathan Parsley, Mikaela Shannon (Jacob), Hunter Hunley, Harlen Hunley (Tori), and Weslyn Hunley; and great-grandchild, Sophia Shannon. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Geneva) Hunley, Johnny Hunley, Mary (Ralph) Heming, Marie Coleman, and Susie (Jerry) Gilbert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay Hunley and Minnie Jessie Hunley; and brothers, George Donald, James Hunley, and Jerry Hunley.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m., Rev. Gordon Dyke officiating, music by Amanda Hurst. Interment service will be on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville, Rev. Michael Parsley officiating, music by Nathan Parsley. Pallbearers will be grandsons and family. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary in Maynardville.

Elbert will be deeply missed, but his testimony of faith and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
