Mr. Elbert Jessup, 92, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on September 30, 1932, in Stokes County to the late Tom Terry Jessup and Essie Mae Knight Jessup. Elbert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He retired from RJ Reynolds after 39 years of service as a chief repairman. Elbert loved to garden and was known especially for his tomatoes. In his spare time, he enjoyed running when he could. In addition to his parents, Elbert is preceded in death by his 12 siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Peggy B. Jessup; two daughters, Janet Escamilla and Sharon Willard (Rodney); five grandchildren, Shea Willard (Liz); Jenna Grunenberg (Chris); Adam Mills (Amber); Ashleigh Long (CJ); and Jessica Newsome (Cody); 13 great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Barbara Jessup; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2025 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Greg Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
