Elbert Joseph ?Joe? Thomas, 93, died on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Ga.

He was born on October 9, 1928, to the late Lawrence and Annie Thomas in Petersburg, Va. He moved to Blackshear, Ga., as a young child. Joe served his country in the United States Air Force, before marrying the late Anne Royster Thomas on March 13, 1954, in Nahunta, Ga.

Joe is preceded in death by his siblings, Howard Thomas and Helen Howard.

Survivors include his children, Gary Thomas (Patti) and Melanie Joy Cole; grandchildren, Stacy Sturgis, Ashley Herndon (Mark), Cole Deaver, Tyler Deaver and Madison Deaver; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Dixon of Blackshear; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend and caretaker, George Deaver.

Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at Brunswick Memorial Park, with the Rev. Ben Campbell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles

Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home is honored to handle the arrangements.
