Elbert Litteer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lassila Funeral Chapel on Feb. 6, 2026.
With heavy hearts, the family of Elbert Paul "Pete" Litteer share the news of his passing on January 21, 2026, at the age of 85. Pete's warm presence and joyful spirit will be lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Born in the winter of 1940, in Los Angeles County, California, Pete entered the world at the Griffith Park Maternity Ward as the cherished son of Alice and Gerald Litteer. Pete spent his formative years in Redwood City, California, surrounded by the lively camaraderie of his three siblings, Jerald "Jerry", Glenlyn "Glen", and Danalyn "D".

Pete was a devoted father, deeply proud of his two daughters whose love and admiration for him are immeasurable. As a grandfather to four granddaughters and one grandson, Pete found immense joy, sharing wisdom, laughter, and the kind of unconditional love that shaped their lives.

Pete happily retired after 28 years as an auto mechanic working for the City of Redwood City maintaining and repairing their fleet of police vehicles and fire engines. His love for cars and ability to fix anything was truly admired by his co-workers, friends, and family.

Later in life, Pete could often be found enjoying RV trips, photography, golf with his friends and family, visiting Lake Tahoe with his children and grandchildren, or moments on his youngest daughter's goat farm. He was a masterful storyteller, a keen observer of nature in his backyard, and never missed an opportunity to capture family moments especially those with his treasured grandchildren. He enjoyed countless hours in the company of his sister and lifelong friend, Glen, staying active traveling, golfing and spending time with friends together.

He was predeceased by his loving parents, Gerald and Alice, his brother Jerald, and brother-in-law and best friend David.

Pete is survived by his daughters Kari (her husband Steve) and Erica (her husband Bennett) and their mother Judy, his five grandchildren, sisters Glenlyn and Danalyn, and a host of extended family and friends who will carry his memory forward.

In keeping with Pete's wishes, his ashes will be spread on his daughter's farm, a place he cherished and worked to nurture in his final months. There, his gentle spirit will live on among the land he loved, and his legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to flourish.
