Elda Lois was born October 16, 1931, to John and Katie Janzen of
Corn, Oklahoma. She went to be with her Lord and Savior January 16, 2026, at the age of 94.
Elda was raised in a dedicated Christian home. She trusted in Christ as her personal Savior during revival meetings as an adolescent and was later baptized. Her childhood was spent on the family farm, and she attended a country school within walking distance of her home.
The family spent one year in California during Elda's early high school years. Upon the family's return, she attended Corn Bible Academy, graduating in 1949.
Elda married Robert (Bob) Balzer October 28, 1949. They celebrated over 75 years of marriage. Three children were born into their home, Wynette, Scott and Barry. Until 1992, Bob and Elda lived on a farm near Hooker, Oklahoma. Elda was a faithful farmer's wife and wonderful homemaker. She was an excellent cook and often had friends, family, visiting pastors, and missionaries in the home for meals. Her home and yard were immaculate. No doubt her favorite activity was sewing, which was professional. Everything from cheerleader uniforms to gorgeous dresses for herself, her daughter and granddaughters, a miniature bride dress and veil, bridesmaid dresses, matching shirts for the family and home decor were fabricated. Several years she enjoyed meeting with ladies of the community through a Home Extension Club. Most importantly, she instructed her children in the way of the Lord and was sure family devotions were part of the daily routine.
Robert and Elda were charter members of the Gospel of Grace Church in Hooker in the early 1950s. Elda was involved in multiple church responsibilities and ministries through the years. She was especially concerned about several unchurched children and a single mother, whom she and Bob took to church.
Numerous winters Bob and Elda traveled to South Texas for health reasons and to volunteer first at Rio Grande Bible Institute and then at the radio station KVMV. They also faithfully supported missions through the years and traveled to Panama as often as possible.
After retiring from farm life in 1992, Bob and Elda moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma, near her childhood home. They were close to their son Barry, his family, and her sisters. The 16 years Bob and Elda resided in Weatherford were very enjoyable as they spent time with family, new friends, music jamboree events, and church life at the First Baptist Church. Bob and Elda sang in the senior choir and organized the missionary prayer wall. She also was involved in WMU (Women's Missionary Union).
From Weatherford they followed family to
Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Bob and Elda became members of BFBC where Elda attended S.S. and WMU as long as health permitted.
Elda went to be with her Lord and Savior January 16, 2026. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her loving husband Robert, a grandson at birth, all nine siblings and their spouses, and brother-in-law Dr. Lee Balzer. She is survived by daughter Wynette Kliewer and husband Eugene, son Scott Balzer, son Barry Balzer and wife Jaylene all of Bartlesville; grandchildren Jason Balzer, Alicia Holbrook and husband Scott, Rob Kliewer, Kristi Bacon and husband Dale, and Craig Balzer and wife Kelly; and great grandchildren Makenna Balzer, Chet Balzer, Kendall Bacon, and Carter Bacon; sister-in-law Alice Balzer and numerous nephews and nieces.
Elda and her prayers will be missed by the family, but we are grateful she is now free of pain and with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
