Gerard Balzer Obituary

Gerard H. Balzer, Jr., 85, formerly of Center Valley, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Cedar Crest Post Acute Care, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Doris (Reed) Balzer.
Born in New Castle, PA on July 15, 1940, he was the son of the late Gerard H. Balzer, Sr. and Ruth (Patterson) Balzer. He earned his Master's degree from West Chester University. He taught History and Spanish, and retired from the Souderton Area School District in the early 1990's. Previously, he had worked in Lancaster, PA in the same capacity.

He was well known in Bucks and Montgomery counties for his participation in sports. For over four decades, he was a baseball umpire for Little League, Legion and high school baseball. He also served for many years as a high school basketball referee. He enjoyed fishing, and singing Karaoke at area restaurants and bars.

He is survived by son, Mark Balzer (Clara), daughter Wendy Teeguarden (Kurt), and grandchildren, Glenn, Daphne and Anthony. He was predeceased by
sister, Carole Mahon.

Burial at Chestnut Hill Church Cemetery, Coopersburg, will be at a later date. The Heintzelman-Stephens Funeral Home, P.C., has been
