Elda M. Carpenter, 84, of Belpre, OH passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Rockland Ridge. She was born October 15, 1941 in Parkersburg, WV, daughter of the late Carl C. McDonald and Dorothy Shafer McDonald Cowdery, and wife of the late Rev. Paul Carpenter.
Elda spent her life giving to many children as a foster parent. She was a Methodist by faith and loved spending time with her family. She was always on the go. She enjoyed going shopping to thrift stores and yard sales and singing hymns in church with her husband.
Left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Lois F. Garner (Ralph), Charlotte K. Harper, Karen King (Doug), Debra Bunch (Joey Burge), Michael Joyner (Rachel), Jessica Millisock, David Carpenter, JJ Carpenter, Dorothy Mann, Sam Carpenter (Christina), David Carpenter (Barb), Joe Carpenter, Carolyn Enoch (John), and Patty Carpenter; siblings, Helen James, Bobbi Kelly (Lawrence), Loretta Striblin, Gary McDonald (Norma), and Carolyn “Pat” McDonald; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her loving husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Harper; her son, Jason Carpenter; siblings, Emily Marie Hanshaw, Edith Grace Sullivan, Carl “Bud” McDonald, Bertha “Irene” Wiblin; and her step-father, John Cowdery.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green St. with Pastor Michael Elder officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memory Gardens, Belpre. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
