Following the family's move he was educated at Rural District #47 Grade School and Clarkson High School. He was anxious to earn money and began working at A.A. Pimper Motors in Howells, NE. He married Ruth M. Pieper on June 24, 1961 at St. John's Catholic Church, Howells, NE. They resided in Howells until 1971 and then moved to the Cech family farm where they raised their six children and farmed for over 50 years.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Heun. Through the years he was involved and volunteered for many parish events, was a member of Knights of Columbus, and most recently served as a church money counter. He also served on the District 1R School Board. Elden's top priorities included:
Faith - Praying many rosaries on his iPad with family
