Aleki Faletoto Anderson Langi was born on June 28, 2006, to Sesikuana Finau and Aleki Langi in North Richland Hills, Texas. Elder Langi tragically passed away while serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Charlotte, NC while awaiting his Visa to serve in Kingston, Jamaica. Elder Langi had a powerful testimony of Jesus Christ and was excited to share the message of the gospel with those he served.
From a very young age, Elder Langi wanted to serve a mission. However, it wasn’t until he was a freshman in high school that he seriously considered it. When Elder Langi’s mom asked if he planned to play football in college after high school, he immediately answered that he wanted to serve a mission. From that day forward, Elder Langi never wavered on that decision. During his calls home on P-day, a message he continuously shared with his family was to never give up. The plan of salvation was a lesson that resonated with Elder Langi as he served. In a conversation with his parents and siblings, he asked them to consider what the plan of salvation meant to them. Elder Langi then shared that to him, the plan of salvation meant love.
Elder Langi was the third oldest of five children. He spent most of his childhood in Euless, Texas, and moved to Utah when he was a teenager. Elder Langi was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and had played football since he was four years old. He made numerous friends during the years he played football, and those friends remained close to him. Elder Langi loved food and was not picky about what he ate. He had a dry sense of humor and liked to laugh and joke around. He was playful and always ready to greet others with a smile. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being around them. Elder Langi loved his siblings and shared a close bond with them. He often looked after his two younger siblings and loved helping his parents take care of them.
Elder Langi is survived by his mother Sesikuana Finau, his father Aleki Langi, his oldest sister Vasa Lilo Huakau (Clarke), his older sister Palu Langi, his younger brother Finau Langi, his younger sister Penina Langi, and his maternal grandparents Kelenisa and Ana Finau, and countless aunties, uncles and cousins.
Elder Langi is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Eseta Lilo Otuafi Langi and Aleki Faletoto Langi.
The family is overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of love they have received on Elder Langi’s behalf. Thank you for the prayers and for lifting their spirits during this difficult time.
