With heavy hearts yet joyful memories, we share the passing of Eldon F. Bultman, a man whose quick laughter and warm smile was felt by all, and whose love resonated in the hearts of his family. Eldon peacefully departed on July 9, 2024, at the remarkable age of 102, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born the eldest son of Henry and Hilda Bultman, Eldon's roots were firmly planted in the soil of Carrollton, Missouri, where he graduated high school in 1939. His life's journey took a courageous turn as he was drafted by the Army during World War II, serving with courage as an infantry machine gunner in the 134th regiment of the 35th Division during the harrowing Battle of the Bulge.
After the war, Eldon returned to his family, who had established a farming enterprise in Elkhart, Kansas. With an entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering dedication, Eldon helped his father and brothers transform the family farm into Bultman Inc., a cornerstone of the southwest Kansas farming and petroleum industries. For over six decades, Eldon's smile and warm greetings welcomed customers from behind his desk, where he effortlessly recalled every detail of the countless products sold by Bultman Inc.
Eldon's greatest love story began with a long courtship and marriage to Betty Ann on June 6, 1954. Together, they shared a lifetime of love and partnership, working side-by-side in the family business. Betty Ann's passing preceded Eldon's, leaving a void that was filled with cherished memories. They were lifelong members of the Lutheran Church.
Eldon's legacy lives on through his beloved sons and their wives, Alan and Patty of Hugoton, Kansas; Gary and Clydene of Los Altos, California, and his adored grandchildren, Brandon and wife Hannah of Fort Collins, Colorado, Danielle and Katherine both of New York City, New York. Their lives have been forever enriched by his love and support. He is survived by one brother, Melvin, and preceded in death by three brothers, Norman, Virgil and Roy.
Though our hearts ache with his absence, we find solace in the countless stories, memories, and laughter that Eldon leaves behind. May his spirit forever inspire us to live with the same passion, integrity, and unwavering love that defined his extraordinary life.
Funeral service will be held Friday, July 26, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church in Elkhart with Pastor Mark Wescoatt officiating. Interment will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery with military rites conducted by Southwest Kansas Veterans Funeral Honor Guard and the Kansas Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team. Arrangements are in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com.
