Eldon L. Frye

Eldon Leonard Frye, 73, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.
Eldon was born on August 8, 1948 to Eldon and Silvia (Haynes) Frye in Marshalltown, Iowa. He grew up most of his life in Nevada, Iowa. He served eight years in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He married Mary Kinney in Des Moines, Iowa in 1980.
Being a jack of all trades, Eldon enjoyed many jobs over his lifetime such as a carpenter, bull rider, horse trainer and judge, auctioneer, and State Fair Patrol Officer. He also enjoyed living on the farm and going out hunting and helping kids with their 4-H projects over the years. In his spare time, he was the "pit master" and loved smoking meats in his homemade smoker and taking his delicious work of art to numerous competitions. Overall, he loved telling stories and spending time with his friends and family.
Elon was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Silvia Frye.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary; son, Michael (Angela) Frye; daughters, Brenda Frye and Heather Anderson; step-daughter, Leann Stamatelos; brother, Vigil "Skip" (Vi) Frye; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
