Eldon M. Keith

Eldon M. Keith, known affectionately as Pete, Peter, and Papa Pete, passed away on March 25, 2024, in Hingham, leaving behind a legacy filled with remarkable achievements and cherished memories. Born on April 7, 1936, in Boston, Peter embraced a life full of passion and dedication.

Peter's journey was nothing short of extraordinary. His career reflected his diverse talents and interests - from serving in the Navy as an airplane mechanic and pilot to owning a radio station in Michigan, becoming a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch in Boston. He honed his skills over the years, showcasing his expertise while continuously seeking new opportunities for growth.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Pete found true joy in the simple pleasures of life. Memories were made during trips to Old Silver Beach in Falmouth and the camp in Maine, travels across Europe and cruises post-retirement with his wife, winters spent in Naples Florida, and many summers at Wessagusset Yacht Club in Weymouth. After moving to Linden Ponds, Peter showed unwavering love and care for his wife Marilyn during her illness.

His love for music found expression through playing jazz with his bandmates the Wippersnappers and the Linden Pond 
Friday nite jazz trio. Pete's artistic flair extended to painting, a passion he pursued with vigor. An avid reader and tennis enthusiast, he approached each interest with a zest that inspired those around him.

Peter's proudest accomplishments were not just limited to his successful career but extended to his family. He leaves behind a strong lineage with three children - Monica, Karen, and Peter, and his grandchildren - Keith, Kyle, Amber, Brandon, Emily, Thomas, Katherine, great-grandchildren - Layla and Leo. Their lives are a testament to Pete's enduring values of love, hard work, and perseverance.

The services to honor Eldon M. Keith will be held at C C Shepherd Funeral Homes in South Weymouth for visitation before proceeding to St. Joseph Cemetery in Boston for the graveside service on April 2, 2024.

Pete was a beacon of strength and kindness until his last moments when he peacefully passed surrounded by his children and grandchildren. His memory will continue to live on through all those who had the privilege to know him.

In the tapestry of life that Peter wove with vibrancy and grace, his legacy will forever remain a source of inspiration. May his spirit soar high like the planes he once flew as he embarks on his final journey beyond the skies.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Pete on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 9:30-11:30am, in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth. A graveside service will follow after the visiting hours, at the Saint Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury.
