Eldon R. Pankratz

Eldon R. Pankratz, 87, of Hillsboro, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at his home. He was born on December 30, 1937 in Goessel, Kansas to Henry D. and Olga (Schmidt) Pankratz.
He graduated from Goessel High School with the class of 1956.
He was a lifelong farmer and later had a successful second career in trailer sales which brought him much joy.
Eldon was instrumental in starting the Marion County Rural Water District #4, where he served as chairman for many years. He recently received the Lifetime Conservation Award from Marion County Conservation Services.
He was united in marriage to Ardith Schmidt on June 16, 1957. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2001. Eldon later married Eva (Driedger) Flaming on January 7, 2006. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his children, Kevin (Dooz) Pankratz of Wichita, Terry (Kandis) Pankratz of Hillsboro, Cindy (Kevin) Jantzen of Wichita, and Kristie (Phil) Diller of Hesston; stepchildren, Angela (Keith) Heide of Hutchinson, Merle (Michelle) Flaming of Marion, and Steve (Kim) Flaming of Kansas City; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, with four on the way; and sister, Ruth Ann Penner of Hillsboro.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ardith Pankratz; and three sisters, Evelyn Pankratz, Betty Ratzlaff and Joyce Bergen.
His greatest joy in life was his family and his faith. Eldon was a longtime member of the Tabor Mennonite Church and was recently attending Garden Community Church.
Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Tabor Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Newton. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at Garden Community Church, rural Moundridge. The services will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d980N8-cHpg. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 11 at the Moundridge Funeral Home.
