On Saturday, February 15, 2025, Eldon Henry Povey, 86, passed away surrounded by family and loved ones in St. George, Utah.

Eldon is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Povey, and his two children: Jeff Povey (Anne Pollard) and his children, Dirk Povey and Shannon Cardon. Suzie Wilson (Brian Wilson) and their children, Amanda Cooke and Zackery Wilson. He is also survived by his many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. His face would light up the moment he saw any of them.

Eldon was born on July 9, 1938, in Preston, Idaho, to Arthur Povey and Martha Fredrickson Povey. He was the youngest and beloved baby boy of five siblings, three of whom preceded him in death: Loraine Taylor, Grant Povey, and Leonard Povey. He is also survived by his two dear sisters, Carma Jean Morgan and Dorothy Dean Griffith. Eldon was raised in Clifton, Idaho, where he attended grade school and graduated from West Side High School in 1956. In 1956, he enlisted in the Armed Forces. After his service, Eldon married Barbara Ann Barfuss in 1959. Following his time in the Armed Forces, he became a civil contractor at Hill Air Force Base as an Avionics foreman. He dedicated over 30 years to his work before retiring.

Eldon and Barbara moved to Davis County, Utah, and started their family. In his younger years he enjoyed a good time, spent as much time as he could with friends. Eldon was always full of joy, with his contagious laughter and puffed-out cheeks whenever he was up to mischief. He greeted every visitor with a big smile and would stand waving both hands until they were out of sight no matter the weather.

His life was filled with fun with friends and family, always willing to help in any way he could. Through the many stories shared by loved ones, one thing remained clear: Eldon loved spending time with his family and friends, having a good time, and, most importantly, reminding everyone that “you don’t mess with the baby brother.”

A celebration of life will be held for Eldon at the Moyle Community Center in Clifton, Idaho, on August 2, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
