Eldon Eugene Record

Our dad, grandpa and best friend left this world unexpectedly on April 28th 2023 in the comfort of his home where he wanted to be at the age of 92. Born to George Record and Hazel Gardner, January 24th 1931, Tremonton Utah. Dad had always thought it was the 21st, up until a few years ago did he really know!

Growing up he had 2 brothers Billy, Lee, and 3 sisters Ethel and Nancy and Pearl.

He was drafted into the military, served in the Korean war, from 1951-1953. He had reached to be a sargent 1st class, at one point he was in charge of the prisoners, for that he was captain. Once a explosive had hit his truck and he had saved all the men by dragging them to the trench on the side of the road.  He also spent 9 years in the reserve. He was honorably discharged Febuary 13, 1959 . Just before he was shipped off, Gene married Gwen Kay Schmidt in 1951, Salt Lake City, Utah. They had 6 children together, Jennifer ( Ralph, deceased,) Susan, David (Carol,) Paul (Ginny,) Gary(Gretha,) Carol (Choogie). Gene worked 41 yrs for Eimco, where he had made patterns for big machinery, he retired in 1997. The year before he also married the love of his life Iva.  He and Iva met where they both had love for square dancing. ‘Swinging Singles,”  just an instant connection between them, Iva was perfect for our dad and grandpa! They enjoyed going to Texas where they got to watch the Nascar, and was joined by Iva’s niece Jenifer, they had so much fun together. Both he and Iva had unique laughs. There are so many beautiful memories, he sure loved to go fishing, playing the guitar and the harmonica. He loved his kids, especially his grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren!

He is survived by his children and granchildren, and proceeded in death by his love Iva, parent’s and brother’s, sisters. 

A special thanks to Michael and Daniel Weight, his two grandson’s that always made sure grandpa had what he needed. We love and miss you already…

 

 

Graveside services will be held May 6th 2023, 10 AM at Redwood Memorial Estates .
