Eldon Wells of Smilax, Kentucky, 83, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. He was born on October 25, 1941, in Leslie County, Kentucky, to the late Dewey and Stella Wells.
Eldon dedicated 31 years of his life to the coal industry as a retired coal miner, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a commitment to providing for his loved ones. His labor was not only a means to support his family but also a testament to his hard work.
Married June 09, 1962 to Lois Miniard in Leslie County. Eldon was also a member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax, Kentucky.
Eldon was known for his love of the outdoors. An avid fisherman, he found immense joy in spending his free time by the water. He also enjoyed gardening and hunting, cultivating apple orchards that marked one of his proudest accomplishments.
Eldon is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Lois Miniard Wells of Smilax, KY. He leaves behind three sons, James Eldon Wells of Smilax, KY, Ricky Lynn Wells (Emmalene) of Somerset, KY, and Jeffery Wells (Rose) of Smilax, KY. Additionally, his daughter, Emma Lee Davidson of Hazard, KY, and his sister, Sallie Wells of Smilax, KY, will carry his memory forward. He was blessed with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, each holding a special place in his heart, along with a host of other cherished family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Eldon was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Harrison, and Willis Wells, and five sisters, Vina Day, Oma Wells, Ona Callahan, Susie Day, and Shirley Fields.
The funeral service for Eldon will be held at 2p.m. Monday, March 24, 2025 at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating.
Interment will follow the service at the Dewey Wells Cemetery at Smilax, KY with Dewey Wells, Morgan Stamper, Henry Roberts, Clinton Roberts, Bailey Roberts, and Christopher Roberts serving as pallbearers.
Friends and family may gather for visitation at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ on Sunday Evening, March 23, 2025 from 6p.m. until 9p.m.
Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
