Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon, Monday, August 18, 2025 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Eveleth. Celebrant will be Fr. Charles Flynn. Visitation will be one hour before at the church. Burial will be in Eveleth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. The family would like to thank the staff at Essentia Health-Virginia Care Center and East Range Hospice for their excellent care given to their mother.
Eleanor M. Askew, 96, of Fayal Township died Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Essentia Health-Virginia Care Center. A lifelong Eveleth resident, she was born on December 16, 1928 to John and Mary (Perushek) Poznik. After meeting at Dick's Dinner and a brief courtship, Eleanor was united in marriage to Edwin R. Askew on February 9, 1952.
Eleanor retired from Cluett-Peabody Shirt Factory where she had worked as a seamstress. She was very active in the community having belonged to the Eveleth Does, the American Legion Post Mountain Iron, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Margaret #1888, and KSKJ Lodge. Eleanor enjoyed baking, curling, knitting, reading, sewing, and spending time with her family and hosting family dinners and get togethers.
She is survived by daughters, Sandra (Judd) Perko, Lynn (Paul) Olson, Debra (Jeff) Spawn; grandchildren; Joe Perko, Jen (Dody) Evenson, Angela (Gary) Stoltz, Eric (Becky) Spawn; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Dylan, Jillian, Justine, Savanna, Preston, Sterling; three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia Askew and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; siblings and her parents.
