Visitation will be from 9-9:30 a.m., Thursday, April 4, 2024, in the Mary Frances Clarke Chapel at Mount Carmel Bluffs. Sharing of Memories will be at 9:30 a.m., followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial is in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Sister Eleanor ministered in California for 50 years. She was an elementary teacher in Pasadena and San José and a secondary teacher in Glendale and Santa Barbara. She served as vice-principal and school development director in Glendale and principal in San Fransisco. She also served the congregation as a postulant mistress in Los Gatos, Calif.
She was born on April 22, 1922, in Chicago to William and Eleanor (Bittner) Craggs. She entered the BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1943, from St. Jerome Parish, Chicago. She professed first vows on March 19, 1946, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1951.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 80 years.
