Eleanor L. "Elly" Carlson

Eleanor L. "Elly" Carlson was born on October 29, 1936, in Wadena, Minnesota, the daughter of Douglas and Doris Waterhouse. She graduated from Long Prairie High School in Long Prairie, Minnesota in 1955. Eleanor married Arlon A. Carlson on September 2, 1955, in Little Sauk, Minnesota. Eleanor went to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Eleanor was a homemaker and seamstress. She loved sewing and made several of Arlon's suits, and many mother/daughter dresses. She became an Avon representative in 1960. She enjoyed selling Avon for 58 years and was a President's Club member until 2018. She received many sales awards. Eleanor enjoyed the outdoors, especially the hunting and fishing adventures with Arlon and their children. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with family. She adored her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Eleanor is survived by her daughter Janice (Pat) Dovenberg of La Crosse, WI; daughter-in-law Lisa Carlson of Underwood, MN; grandchildren Chad Carlson of Omaha, NE; Matt Carlson (fiancé Crystal) of Battle Lake, MN; and Todd (Kari) Carlson of Hillsboro, ND; Derek Dovenberg of West Salem, WI; and Andrew Dovenberg of West Salem, WI; and 11 great-grandchildren. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Arlon, son Mike, parents Douglas and Doris Waterhouse, Arlon's parents Arthur and Gladys Carlson, brother Jerry Waterhouse, and sister Karen Carter. A Celebration of Life for Elly will be held Tuesday, September 2nd at Living Word Lutheran Church, 4300 Nicols Road, Eagan, MN. Visitation at 1PM and service at 2PM. Dessert and coffee to follow.
