Eleanor Cuddy Obituary

Eleanor M. Cuddy, 90, of Attleboro, after a brief illness passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 21st, at her home with family.
Born in Newton, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Paul A. Neville and Mary (McCormick) Neville.
Eleanor, known as Ellie to family and friends, was raised in Massachusetts and attended Our Ladys High School in Newton, where she met the love of her life, Thomas H. Cuddy Jr. After graduation, she was employed as a bank teller and subsequently married Tom in April 1955. They became parents for the first of five times in July 1956.
The Cuddys moved to Attleboro in 1966 when Tom accepted an executive position at the HK & OP Richardson Insurance Agency in downtown Attleboro.
In addition to the incredible job she did raising five children, she also used her precious free time to volunteer at local non-profit organizations. Among her community contributions: a member of the board of directors of the Northern Bristol County United Way, a volunteer with the Women's Auxiliary Group at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital for decades, a board member of the Florence Henderson Sweet Community House and a member of the Attleboro Garden Club
Ellie was also the payroll clerk at the Richardson-Cuddy Insurance Agency and worked in the circulation dept at The Sun Chronicle.
For many years, Tom and Ellie would enjoy heading south in the winter to their condo unit in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and north in the summer/fall to their house in Franconia, NH overlooking Cannon Mountain Ski Area.
Ellie is survived by four of her five children, Thomas H. Cuddy III and his wife Lisa (Henry) Cuddy of Stamford, CT; Mark S. Cuddy and his wife Robin T. (McDonald) Cuddy of Wrentham; John M. Cuddy and his wife Diana (Durcan) Cuddy of Mansfield and Jeanne Cuddy-Peretz and her husband Shimon C. Peretz, of Wainscott, NY.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Danielle Habdas and her husband Matthew of Stamford, CT; David Cuddy of Los Angeles, CA; Molly Cornetta and her husband Derek of Attleboro; Mackenzie Donovan and her husband Michael of Foxboro; Mark Seamus Cuddy and his wife Zoe of North Attleboro; Madeline Cuddy of New York, NY. And seven great grandchildren: Hunter, Cash, Lily, Max, Leo, Declan and Maeve.
Ellie is predeceased by her husband, Tom Cuddy Jr. who passed away in February of 2021 and her daughter, Ellen M. Cuddy, who passed away in September 2021, leaving her partner Patrick Murphy of Attleboro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, Jan. 28th at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, prior to the funeral, the family will be receiving friends and relatives from 9-10am at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. Burial immediately following the Mass at St. Johns Cemetery, Attleboro.

I feel honored to have known Ellie and Tom through my best friend John Cuddy. Ellie was always so warm welcoming and kind. I always looked forward to seeing her. She will be missed. They just don't make them like they used to! Bon Voyage Ellie.
