Eleanor Claire deRidder

Eleanor Claire (Brill) deRidder, 89, of Old Greenwich, Connecticut died peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at her daughter's home in Medway. She was the beloved wife of Martin deRidder who died in 2011.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on April 9, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Peter A. and Lucille (Blum) Brill.
Eleanor was a resident of Old Greenwich for over 50 years.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Bates College in Maine and her master's degree from the Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.
Eleanor had worked as a nursing home administrator for many years.
She was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Stamford. Eleanor was an avid reader, enjoyed travelling with her husband, and was a fantastic nana to her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Claire Pouncey and her husband Jon Merz of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Gail Bittig and her husband Mark of Medway, and three grandchildren, Kelsey Barry and her husband Joshua, Seth Bittig and Lucas Bittig.
Her funeral services are private at the request of her family and are under the care of the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
